How can I reduce the size of my photo email attachments?

I use Outlook Express. I sent an email with six pictures. The six attachments totalled over 1.3 MB. Took forever to upload...and recipients to download. How can I reduce the amount of space the pictures use? Thanks.

I use FastStone photo resizer software, which is a free download. It will do individual photos or batches, and has a easy interface.
Reply:I use Corel Photo Paint and it works very well. Still good quality yet very small - any photo package will work. Just do a Save As and then choose the quality you want .
Reply:If they are bitmaps(.bmp)

Convert them to jpeg(.jpg)
